Ms. Andrea Love Art and Gifted Educator
Today at HCP we came to class and worked on our exploratory time building a diamond shovel for a Mindcraft design. It's exciting to see what students do when you give them time to build whatever they like.
Our writing prompt was: "What makes you happy?" I am happy when I am doing..........
We then worked on a "Flurb" who has a pot of gold that is in danger. We had to help her get to it as quickly as possible before it disappears. We cut out arrows and pasted them in the direction to find the gold. We also had a Flurb who needed our help to become happy with finding the apple, strawberry, banana and pineapple. We succeeded in helping the Flub by using the Algorithm method. This method is a list of steps that you can follow to finish a task.
We then played a game to help Ms. Love get to the chalkboard by giving her specific steps and one instruction at a time. These steps are the part of sequencing that we have been using while working with our robot, Kubo, as well.
Lastly, we reinforced our learning of Algorithms by playing a game on Kodable.com. The levels become harder after programming the fuzz ball to get to their destination.
We had a great day in TAG learning all about the beginning stages of coding. We will see you next Thursday!
