Today in TAG we finished up our presentations about our innovations we came up with as a group. The presentations can be found on Class Dojo's 6th grade group. We have some students who are future presenters in the works for a competition in the near future! Presentations are a little overwhelming at times, but it is beneficial to practice for our future endeavors. We had a discussion about frustrations today and how we can work through them. We had a writing prompt that we wrote down in our composition books and reflected how we deal with our frustrations before we discussed as a group. Ms. Love reminded the students that they could talk with her at any time as well as ask to have a break to calm down by going to the water fountain and resetting our thoughts. Our prompt today was: Frustration is A Natural part of learning. Instead of trying to avoid frustration, we embrace it. Persistence is in learning that frustration is a positive sign, not a negative one. When we become frustrated, it means that they are about to learn something new. Compare it to the pain you feel in your mouth before you get a new tooth or the soreness in your muscles before you get stronger.
All of the students received a certificate of completion on the Everfi program. There is a copy hanging in the classroom and the students will receive a signed copy from Ms. Love as well. I am very proud of all students as they persevered through the program and showed major growth throughout the program. There is a photo on Class Dojo of their certificates as well.
Grades will be going in soon of their work on Google Classroom. Students have been asked to redo some of the writing reflections on Classroom before I give them a final grade. Please ask your student if they need to work on their Google Classroom reflections. A couple of students have been resubmitting their work from home and I am proud of their determination.
Reminder, I will not be on campus next Monday. Students will have classwork to work on while I am away. The Librarian will be watching over them.
Conferences will be coming up very soon. Would you like to have a conference with Ms. Love via phone, email or in person? Please let me know which type of conference you would prefer by responding to this email.
Thank you very much for your time and communication.
