Ms. Andrea Love Art and Gifted Educator
Today in TAG we began our morning with exploratory time the first 15 minutes of class. Students enjoyed creating and playing games together during this time. We then began our morning writing and class discussion of the following:
We did an activity about Algorithms. Direct the Flurb (fuzzy ball) to collect his snack using arrows. Then we did an activity to control our buddy who is a robot. Directing the robot to move using only arrows is a sequencing action used in coding. Humans must program the robot or computer using sequencing and algorithms. We will do small activities to help us understand the world of sequencing, programming and algorithms.
Students are getting to the end of their Everfi and will be starting on the journey of coding a story on CSFirst/Scratch. We will begin working on CSFirst/Scratch in small chunks while finishing up the Everfi on Digital Citizenship. Students will visit the world of frustration when it comes to Scratch and following the directions within CSFirst. This program will help students understand that listening, reading and following the directions is very important. Some students will want to learn through mistakes and that is fine as well, but to help with their frustration level, it is recommended to follow the simulations to help them learn how to design on Scratch.
Field trip for November 7th. I have received a couple of permission slips and have five parents that have offered to chaperone. I will need a total of 15 parents to attend for the entire group. I have an email coming out about the field trip very soon with information about our lunch time and the trip schedule
Have a great week and thank you for sharing your students with me.
